Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vinton, with Rev. Stephen Preus officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, with lunch to follow. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, (212 East 6th Street).

Rita Moore, 89, of Vinton, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Vinton Lutheran Home, following complications of a stroke. A memorial visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Blessed Hope Church, Vinton. Karen Halva, 78, of West Union, Iowa died Friday, January 26, 2024, at
Gunderson Palmer Hospital in West Union, Iowa. She was born October
28, 1945, to Wayne and Jeanne (Kephart) Gulick. Karen graduated from
Vinton High School in 1963 and went on to earn her BA in education
from the University of Northern Iowa in 1967.
On June 8, 1968, Karen was united in marriage with Gary Halva in
Vinton, Iowa.

Steven A. Camarata, 72, of La Porte City, died on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa. Steven was born on March 31, 1951 in Cedar Falls, the son of Alfred and Vera Koch Camarata.He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1970.Steven married Diane Richardson on October 6, 1973 in La Porte City. He worked at Viking Pump for 43 years in the machine shop doing various positions, retiring in 2017.
Robert V. "Bob" McLaren, 97, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went hometo be with the Lord on January 24, 2024, after a life well lived.Bob was born September 29, 1926, in Butler County, IA, to George "Vern" and Freda (Lursen) McLaren.He attended school in Hampton, IA, and Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. He spent a short period of timein the Army Air Corps at the end of WWII and was in the reserves at the start of the Korean Conflict.

After graduating from La Porte City High School in 1954, George traveled west with a friend, building silos in Montana before being drafted by the Navy in 1955.

Roger Dean Pohlmann, 84, of Monticello, Ill., passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, at 4:03 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at Teahen Funeral Home Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Rogers’s family will greet friends on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Roger will be laid to rest at Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha, Iowa, with a luncheon immediately following at the funeral home.
