Leo L. Rabe, age 82 of Blairstown, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024, at Compass Memorial Healthcare, Marengo. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2024, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established.Leo is survived by his three children, Andrew (Shannon) Rabe, Blairstown, Jason “Jake” (Erika) Rabe, Blairstown, and Lisa Rabe, Watkins; five grandchildren, Stephanie Moore (Clayton Whitney), Kaleb (Abbey) Rabe, Samantha Rabe (Kolby Volesky), Colton (Hazel) Rabe and Clayton Rabe; four great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, David Jones; a sister-in-law, Peggy Rabe; and his bonus family, Mason and Mindy Blizek and their five children, Promise City.

 Jim Howard, age 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2024 in Hiawatha, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday January 27, 2024, at the Urbana Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael Sells officiating.  Following the memorial service, the family would like to invite everyone for refreshments at the church.

Edward J. “Bud” Novak, 91, of Belle Plaine, was called to be at home with his Lord & Savior on January 18, 2024.Edward was born on March 18, 1932, to William and Emma (Vornholt) Novak in Ely ,IA. He graduated from Wilson High School, Cedar Rapids, IA in 1950. Following graduation, Ed joined the Navy in 1951. His first permanent duty was with the VP-45 in Panama.

Regis Joseph Zweigart, 66, of Watkins, IA passed away January 19, 2024 at Heritage Specialty Care, Cedar Rapids, IA after a courageous 13-year battle with multiple sclerosis. Regis was born August 28, 1957 to Walter and Helen (Schulte) Zweigart in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Benton Community High School, class of 1975. He then continued his education, earning an AAS Degree in Ag Diesel from Kirkwood Community College; while helping his dad on the family farm.

Gene Yeries, 70, of Norway, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with a terminal illness.Gene was born March 5, 1953 to Leo and Mary Yeries in Cedar Rapids, IA. He was the youngest of 2 children. He graduated from Norway High School in 1971. After high school, he attended mechanic school and proceeded to work many years as both an auto mechanic, while also farming full time on his family farm.

Marva Ann Hanna, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday January 27, 2024, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vinton, with Rev. Anne Williams officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.  A private family interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.

Gilbert L. Hansen, 92, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at Virginia Gay Hospital, following complications of COPD. Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Vinton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dennis Morey officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Bonita M. Wilson, 92, of Van Horne, Iowa, was welcomed into heaven on January 17, 2024, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center following a short illness. A private family graveside service at Salem Cemetery, Van Horne, will be held later this year. Bonita Mae Brehm was born on September 27, 1931, at the Fry family farm east of Van Horne, the daughter of Herman and Mildred (Fry) Brehm.
