Gladys C. (Schminke) Hagen, age 87, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 14, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, with Rev. Nick Palmer officiating. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the church on Sunday. Russell L. Tollefson Sr.
Russell L. Tollefson Sr., 71, passed away August 7, 2023 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care, Belle Plaine, IA.Russell was born April 28, 1952 to Ernest and Nina (Thorson) Tollefson. He attended Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Following school, Russ enlisted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam War. Upon his return he moved to Cedar Rapids and worked odd jobs before his career as a truckdriver and later worked for Foster Heating and Cooling.

Richard Paul Novotny, 84, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Aug. 6, 2023, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, Iowa.Dick was born Oct. 1, 1938, to Otto and Lottie (Bartacheck) Novotny.As a young adult, Dick joined the U.S. Army, where he was awarded for his many outstanding accomplishments. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023, at Saint John Lutheran Church: 306 2nd Street E, Newhall, Iowa 52315. Lucille Dunlavy, 101 years passed away August 2, 2023, in Council Bluffs, la. She was born January 2, 1922, to the late Roy and Eulalia Dunlavy, in Raymond, SD. Lucille graduated from the Iowa School for the Blind in Vinton Ia., in 1942. She was a longtime resident of Council Bluffs and worked for Howard Manufacturing and Skinner Macaroni Company with 37 years of service, retiring in 1987. Douglas G. Walter
