The wind blew in the Vikings favor in the first half of their game against Marion. With a strong south wind at their backs, the Vikings scored twice in the first half.

The Vinton-Shellsburg boys soccer team, in just its second year of existence, is 4-7 on the 2013 season, with two more regular seasons games to play.

Freshman Macy Griffith scored the winning goal in last Tuesday's 1-0 win over Anamosa on the VS soccer field. The win was the Vikettes' first of the season.

The Vinton-Shellburg boys golf team hosted the WAMAC Super Meet at the Wildcat Golf Course in Shellsburg on Tuesday. The Vikings, led by Tyler Stueck's 77, finished in eighth place.
