The Prairie Creek Sports Club/Whitetails Unlimited Chapter of Benton County donated $1000 to the Vinton Shellsburg High School Trap Team.  Presenting the check were Whitetails Unlimited Board Members Lenny Engelking and Jared Vogeler.

Vikings rout Mustangs; to face Union in District Championship

For the first six minutes, the Independence Mustangs played a close Class 3A District 6 game with the VInton-Shellsburg Vikings. Although spotting the VIkings a 5-point lead, the Mustangs kept the game close, and trailed just 13-7, with a little more than two minutes left in the first quarter.

Going into the post-season, the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings lead all Class 3A basketball teams in points scored and point differential. The top-ranked Vikings, the only unbeaten team in Class 3A, has scored 1,478 points and has won its 21 games by an average of 19.

State wrestling: Viking Wehage ends season with 3-2 loss at State
