Iowa's Ride Canceled
TJ Juskiewicz, Iowa’s Ride Director issued the following statement on their Facebook page canceling the Most Wonderful Ride through Vinton, and the rest of Iowa."Unfortunately, after evaluating the current situation surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19) and great concern for the safety of the general public, the townspeople, riders, support drivers, volunteers, the Iowa State Patrol troopers, safety officials and staff, it will not be safe nor feasible to host the inaugural Iowa’s Ride on July 12-18, 2020.
Benton County Speedway Set To Open Racing Season May 3rd
The Benton County Speedway in Vinton, Iowa has altered the schedule to adhere to Iowa Governor, Kim Reynolds, guidelines in regards to the COVID-19 virus. Benton County Speedway “Frostbuster” Cancelled
Vinton, Iowa: The “Frostbuster” Stock Car Racing event scheduled for Thursday, April 2nd at the Benton County Speedway has been cancelled. Citing concerns for the safety and well being of the drivers, crews, fans and officials, the Dripps family has made the decision to cancel the early spring racing special at the Benton County Speedway located on the Benton County Fairgrounds in Vinton, Iowa.
IBA Recognizes Four Iowa High School Boys’ State Basketball Tournament Players
Four Iowa High School Boys’ Basketball Tournament players were [SEL]ed to receive a 2020 Iowa Bankers Association Student Athlete Achievement Award, and they will be presented with the award at their local bank. Last-second drama puts Ortner in the consolation semis!
Brady Ortner scored a last-second reversal and near-fall to defeat Harlan's Ethan Lemon, 14-13 to advance to Saturday's 126-pound consolation semifinals. Ortner (44-7) led Lemon 10-9 with 30 seconds to go when the Cyclone got a takedown and turned him for a two-point near-fall. But with nine seconds left, Ortner managed to get out from underneath and scored the reversal and back points to score the 14-13 win.
Ortner advances, clinches medal with dramatic win
Vinton-Shellsburg's Brady Ortner has defeated freshman Ethan DeLeon of Sioux City Heelan, 1-0 in the second round of the Class 2A consolation bracket.With the victory Ortner (43-7) advances to tonight's consolation 3rd round against Ethan Lemon of Harlan (37-10 of and most importantly he has wrapped-up at least 8th-place in the tournament and a spot in on the medal podium Saturday night.

Viking sophomore Brady Ortner pinned Jack Ites of Iowa Falls-Alden in Thursday's first round of consolations to advance to Friday's second-round. Ortner pinned Ites in 1:57 of the first period. He will wrestle the loser of the quarterfinal match between Ethan DeLeon of Sioux City Heelan and Joe Sullivan of Osage. See photos here!
