Robin Reneè Trimble

Robin Reneè Trimble, 69, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton, following a brief illness. Per Robin’s wishes, there will be no services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Robin and her family.Robin was born June 28, 1954, in Long Beach, CA., the daughter of Horace and Margaret Nadine (Thompson) Roach.

Diane Kay Sutphin, 81, of Walford, passed away, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4-7 PM, Monday, February 12, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Vernon Parizek

Vernon Parizek, 94, of Elberon, passed away on February 6, 2024 at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, due to complications of a stroke. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Phillips Funeral Home, Keystone from 4-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held the following day on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Elberon Christian Church.

Jerry L. Whorton

Jerry L. Whorton, 73, of Mt. Auburn, Iowa passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi with his children and close friends by his side. Per his wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.Jerry was born May 12, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa to Don & Betty (Heine) Whorton. He graduated from Marion High School in 1968.

Marvin Roy McArthur

Marvin Roy McArthur, 79, of Walker, Iowa, died Friday, February 2, 2024. A visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point, Iowa. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at First Christian Church in Center Point. Burial will follow at Center Point Cemetery.

Mert Alpers, 89, of Vinton, Iowa, died at home surrounded by family on Friday, February 2, 2024.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vinton, with Rev. Stephen Preus officiating.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, with lunch to follow. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, (212 East 6th Street).

Rita Moore

Rita Moore, 89, of Vinton, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Vinton Lutheran Home, following complications of a stroke.  A memorial visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Blessed Hope Church, Vinton.  Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Rita and her family.Rita was born May 21, 1934, rural Palo, the daughter of Fay and Florence (Penney) Evens.

Karen Halva

Karen Halva, 78, of West Union, Iowa died Friday, January 26, 2024, at Gunderson Palmer Hospital in West Union, Iowa. She was born October 28, 1945, to Wayne and Jeanne (Kephart) Gulick. Karen graduated from Vinton High School in 1963 and went on to earn her BA in education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1967. On June 8, 1968, Karen was united in marriage with Gary Halva in Vinton, Iowa.

Steven A. Camarata

Steven A. Camarata, 72, of La Porte City, died on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa. Steven was born on March 31, 1951 in Cedar Falls, the son of Alfred and Vera Koch Camarata.He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1970.Steven married Diane Richardson on October 6, 1973 in La Porte City. He worked at Viking Pump for 43 years in the machine shop doing various positions, retiring in 2017.

Robert V. "Bob" McLaren

Robert V. "Bob" McLaren, 97, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went hometo be with the Lord on January 24, 2024, after a life well lived.Bob was born September 29, 1926, in Butler County, IA, to George "Vern" and Freda (Lursen) McLaren.He attended school in Hampton, IA, and Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. He spent a short period of timein the Army Air Corps at the end of WWII and was in the reserves at the start of the Korean Conflict.
