Martin L. Graber, Brigadier General (Retired) and Iowa Representative

Brigadier General (Retired) and Iowa Representative Martin L. Graber, a dedicated soldier, leader, and community servant, passed away January 31, 2025 at Fort Madison, IA. Born in Donnellson, Iowa, he was a graduate of Central Lee High School and went on to serve his country with distinction for over three decades in the Iowa Army National Guard. General Graber enlisted in Company A, 224th Engineer Battalion, in July 1972, beginning a distinguished military career that saw him rise through the ranks.

J. Duane Glime

J. Duane Glime, 76, of Newhall, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.Duane was born on August 25, 1948 to Fay and Mildred (Scott) Glime.

Thelma Margaret Horak

Thelma Margaret Horak was born July 4, 1935 and went to heaven on January 31, 2025. She married Merle Horak, April 7, 1956. He passed away February 4, 2020. She is the mother to three children, grandmother to eight grandchildren, great-grandmother to fourteen grandchildren and great-great grandmother to one grandbaby who is due in April. She attended a one-room school house and graduated from Vinton High School.

Teresa (Teri) Ann Tumilty

Teresa (Teri) Ann Tumilty, 72, of La Porte City, Iowa passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, surrounded by her family. Teri was born to Harley and Edith (Coy) Williams in Vinton, Iowa, on March 2, 1952. She was the first of three children. Teri attended Vinton schools and later, LaJames School of Cosmetology.Teri owned and operated two successful businesses in La Porte City, Jolly Rogers Pizza and Teri's Cute Cuts and Crazy Curls.

Hawley Dean Collingwood

Hawley Dean Collingwood, age 94, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away January 30, 2025. Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, IA. Burial will take place in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Luzerne, IA with military honors.Visitation is from 3-5 p.m. Friday, February 7th at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine.

James “JD” Donald Thorson

James “JD” Donald Thorson, 77, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away January 22, 2025 at his home.JD was born October 26, 1947 to Palmer Ivertus and Juanita Irene (Nelson) Thorson in South Side Township, Minnesota. He graduated from Annandale, MN High School and continued his education at Brown Institute, Minneapolis, MN for Electronic Technician in 1966.

William “Bill" Dean Grieder

William “Bill" Dean Grieder, 85, of Belle Plaine, IA passed peacefully to Jesus his Savior, surrounded by his family January 20, 2025. Bill passed from complications of Parkinson's Disease.Services will be held at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service in Belle Plaine Friday, January 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Join the family as we celebrate the life of Bill with an Open House at the Belle Plaine Country Club until 4:00.

Carole Audrey Hagan Lewis

Carole passed away Jan. 25, 2025 in Spokane, WA. She was born May 18, 1936 to Charles and Laverne Hagan of Atkins, IA. She was valedictorian of her class at Atkins High School, attended Iowa State College, the University of Colorado and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. After teaching in Austin, MN and Colorado Springs, she taught missionary children for one year in Soonchun, Korea.

Eldo Henry Meyer

Eldo Henry Meyer of Garrison passed from this earth to his Lord in Heaven the early morning hours of Thursday, January 30, 2025 at the age of 92. Eldo was born in a rural home near Garrison to Henry and Beulah (Geiger) Meyer. He attended a country school through the third grade and graduated from the Garrison High School in 1951. He was married to the love of his life, Shirley Gluesing from Newhall Iowa for 69 years.

Richard Du Wayne Lewis

Richard Du Wayne Lewis, 73, of Shellsburg passed away January 13, 2025. A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 pm Saturday, February 22, at the American Legion Hall, 114 Main St. SW, Shellsburg.
