The 4th St. Diner has lost their oven. It can't be repaired. If you would like to make a donation toward the purchase of a new oven, it would be appreciated. The total cost of the oven is $6,500.

QHC Management, a company that owns 10 nursing homes in Iowa, filed for bankruptcy this year. The company also owes $2.1 million dollars in taxes. As a result, the company plans to close three nursing homes in Iowa. The homes located in Dysart (Sunnycrest Care Center), Mitchellville and Humbolt South are on the list of closures.The company owns a total of 8 nursing homes and 2 assisted living facilities and is trying to sell all of them.

 Collaboration allows for employees of North Star Community Services, as well as eligible family members of employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education. Storm Lake, Iowa (July 19, 2022) – Buena Vista University (BVU) and North Star Community Services have established a Strategic Partnership to create opportunities and strengthen the communities both organizations serve.

 Last week our convection oven quit working and the unit is so old that it cannot be fixed.  It is the oven that we do most of our daily cooking in.  We have looked at the remaining July menus and have made revisions as needed.  Please find the updated menu below. Anyone who would like to make a monetary donation towards purchasing a replacement is welcome to do so.

To celebrate 80 years of serving farmers, the Corteva Agriscience production facility in Dysart, Iowa, welcomed the community during an open house on June 17.Approximately 150 guests, including local farmers, retired employees and community members, attended the event. Team members led facility tours, where guests learned about the site’s seed production work, including the packaging, cleaning and shipping of corn, soybean, silage inoculant, alfalfa and wheat seed.

Fareway Stores, Inc. is partnering with Variety - the Children’s Charity to conduct the sixth annual Round Up at the register from July 4 - 23 at all 130 store locations. Customers will have the opportunity to round up to the next dollar or provide an additional donation on their grocery bill to help fund Variety’s mission. Dollars raised through the Round Up will provide mobility equipment to children living with special needs, as well as fund and deliver effective programs and grants to care for children who are underprivileged, at-risk, critically ill, or living with special needs.
