Vinton Unlimited 2021 Annual Report
This annual report will give members a recap of activities and events for the year ending December 31, 2021. Representing our membership was an 11-member executive board consisting of Andrew Elwick, Emily Henkle, Ashley Hesson, Marcy Horst, Tony Islas, Bob Koenigsfeld, Robin Martin, Teresa Meyer, Molly Noren, Karilea Ries, and Raymond Siddell. These board members served on one or more of the six committees.
Kwik Star cups aren't even half full or are they?
When a shortage of coffee cups affected Kwik Star convenient stores/gas stations, they released an amusing flyer concerning the situation.The company is offering a $.99 cup refill, or crockpot refill, or wheelbarrow refill...but seriously because of shortages of cups the station needs you to bring your own mug.. or any kind of coffee container. Simply Organic, located in Norway, is a leader in organic herbs, spices, flavors and seasonings, today announced the six recipients receive grants from the Simply Organic Giving Fund Grant Program, donating a collective $150,000 to address food insecurity in the U.S.For the 2022 granting period, the Simply Organic Giving Fund selected organizations that are working tirelessly to increase access to healthy and organic foods for communities in need, including refugees, communities experiencing the impact of natural disasters and families living in food deserts.
Dollar General to be closed on February 1 as they Relocate
Dollar General will be closing on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022 while they move into their new location the site of the former 218 Cafe. Several cars from Indiana, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and across the state of Iowa are present to help Set up and organize the new store.The exact opening date for the new store is unknown at this time. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced today that the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship is now accepting applications for the 2022 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program. To qualify, the grants must be used to support projects that raise awareness about or drive demand for specialty crops grown in Iowa.“Specialty crop block grants are a win-win for producers, distributors and consumers,” said Secretary Naig.
TOYS FOR TOTS CAMPAIGN PROVIDED FOR MORE THAN 19,000 CHILDREN
Fareway recently presented a check for nearly $355,000 to the U.S. Marine Corps for their Toys for Tots campaign, which provides toys to children during the holiday season. In addition, more than 110 pallets of toys were collected and donated. Monetary and toy donations were accepted at all 129 Fareway store locations from Friday, November 26 through Friday, December 24.
Deadline to apply for Discount on Spring Crop Insurance Extended
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig has extended the deadline for farmers who planted fall cover crops to sign up for a $5 per acre discount on their 2022 crop insurance premiums. Farmers and landowners now have through Jan. 28 to sign up online at apply.cleanwateriowa.org.Fall 2021 cover crop acres enrolled in other state or federal cover crop cost-share programs are not eligible.
