On the 17th anniversary of being in business, Simply Blooming owner, Lisa Eikamp opened her shop in Vinton on 2/3/23, both dates easy to remember. Simply Blooming offers floral arrangements, plants and gifts for your home. Vinton Unlimited and members made a stop to welcome Eikamp and her staff to Vinton on Friday afternoon to hold a ribbon cutting to welcome the new business to town.

Great News!  Fresh Conversations will restart Monday, January 30th at the 4th Street Diner.  What is Fresh Conversations? Itis a free nutrition education program designed to support healthy aging and independence. Each month, Iowans aged 60 and older gather in communities across Iowa to discuss current nutrition and health topics, taste low-cost healthy recipes, and discover new ways to stay active and independent.

Secretary Naig Encourages Iowans to Apply for 2023 Specialty Crop Block Grants

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced today that the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship is accepting applications for the 2023 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program through March 10.The program, which is designed to support projects that enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops grown in Iowa by increasing demand, yields or awareness, is administered by the Department with funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Services (AMS).

New Casey's location to open Thursday, January 12

Certification in Beef Quality Assurance registration now open

Producers and haulers who need to renew or obtain their certification in Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) can preregister now for an in-person training in Vinton in northeastern Iowa. Offered by the Iowa Beef Center, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Iowa Beef Industry Council, the session is scheduled on Thursday, January 5, 2023.There is no cost to attend the event, which includes dinner sponsored by Benton County Cattlemen.

Vinton Veterinary Clinic to close December 31

In a statement released on Monday, the Vinton Veterinary Clinic announced that Dr. Clyde Wilson will be retiring from the practice on December 31.The last day that Dr. Wilson will be seeing patients is December 16.
