Regions Bank to close local office in May

Regions Bank has announced that it will be closing the Vinton branch office on May 21. Headquartered in Alabama, the company was founded in 1971 and opened a branch in Vinton shortly after.The bank also said that they will be merging with the larger branch located in Waterloo.  The offices will be open in Vinton through 2:00 p.m. on May 21st, but after that, customers are invited to use the Regions Bank located at 224 West Ridgeway Ave.

Changing Landscape of Farmland Ownership Can Benefit Owners and Community

Farming is the backbone of Iowa and our land is an essential natural resource for our state. However, the people who care for and work the land are changing. Landowners across Iowa are aging. According to a 2017 study by Iowa State University, 95% of Iowa farmland is owned by people age 65 and older, and the farmland has started to change hands with this transfer expected to occur at an increasing rate.

Communities received $8.7 million from Alliant Energy to support customers

To support customers and communities in Iowa and Wisconsin, Alliant Energy, its Foundation and employees achieved a collective impact of $8.7 million and over 64,000 volunteer hours in 2020. “Helping those in need was more important than ever as our customers faced unprecedented challenges in 2020,” said John Larsen, Chairman, President, and CEO of Alliant Energy.

Remington Seeds to close its doors February 12th

Employees of the Remington Seeds Vinton Plant will now be taking new positions either within the company or in different employment. The local plant announced that it will be closing its doors on February 12th. The business employed 14 individuals.“The Vinton plant has served the seed industry well. Unfortunately, upgrading it to today’s state of the art seed production requirements is not financially viable given the plant’s production needs.

Toys for Tots campaign provides for 23,000 Children

Fareway recently presented a check for nearly $315,000 to the U.S. Marine Corps for their Toys for Tots campaign, which provides toys to children during the holiday season. In addition, more than 100 pallets of toys were collected and donated. Monetary and toy donations were accepted at all 124 Fareway store locations from Friday, November 27 through Thursday, December 24.
