ECICOG Business Loan Webinar March 24
The East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG) is excited to announce a
webinar series. Geared toward ECICOG’s 6-county region, the webinars will focus on the many ways
ECICOG provides support to its communities.
The first of these webinars is about ECICOG’s Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) program. Low-interest loans
from the RLF are available to businesses in Benton, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Washington
counties.
Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Sought
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and Department of Natural Resources Director Kayla Lyon invite Iowans to nominate individuals or families in their communities for the 2021 Farm Environmental Leader Award. Nominations will be accepted until Monday, May 3, 2021, to be considered for the 2021 awards ceremony held at the Iowa State Fair.

Regions Bank to close local office in May
Regions Bank has announced that it will be closing the Vinton branch office on May 21. Headquartered in Alabama, the company was founded in 1971 and opened a branch in Vinton shortly after.The bank also said that they will be merging with the larger branch located in Waterloo. The offices will be open in Vinton through 2:00 p.m. on May 21st, but after that, customers are invited to use the Regions Bank located at 224 West Ridgeway Ave.
Changing Landscape of Farmland Ownership Can Benefit Owners and Community
Farming is the backbone of Iowa and our land is an essential natural resource for our state. However, the people who care for and work the land are changing. Landowners across Iowa are aging. According to a 2017 study by Iowa State University, 95% of Iowa farmland is owned by people age 65 and older, and the farmland has started to change hands with this transfer expected to occur at an increasing rate.
