The world has changed…

I think it is safe to say that the world has changed drastically in the last few months.  As with any change, some of it might be for the better and some might not be.  In the insurance world, one thing that has changed is the ability to get Long Term Care after the age of 65.  Let’s face it, a lot of us don’t really start thinking about it until we start thinking about retirement.

Ideal Industries Consolidates Operations

Ideal Industries, Inc. announced today that it is positioning for the COVID-19 recovery period by consolidating operations in its Vinton plant. Ideal's production in Oelwein will continue until June 11, 2020, in its north plant and until July 31, 2020, in its south plant. Noth locations in are in the Oelwein Industrial Park.One-third of Ideal's Oelwein workforce will be retained.

Farm Bureau Financial Services Office in Vinton Re-Opens

Safety is a top priority for Farm Bureau Agent Teresa J. Meyer.  At this time, Meyer is comfortable re-opening her office at 421 1st Avenue and is scheduling appointments in person or virtually. “We want clients/members to feel safe and comfortable when they come in to meet with us.  That’s why we’re taking precautions based on CDC guidance,” said Meyer.

IA DEPT. OF PUBLIC HEALTH, HANES AND FAREWAY PARTNER TO PROVIDE 35,000 MASKS

The Iowa Governor’s Office and the Iowa Department of Public Health donated more than 35,000 masks on May 22 for Fareway to distribute the masks to their customers. “We appreciate the generous donation, and partnership with Governor Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Public Health,” said Fareway President and CEO Reynolds W. Cramer. “I want to thank Fareway for their assistance in helping distribute masks and for their ongoing efforts to promote public health in Iowa,” said Governor Kim Reynolds.

Jessy’s Gems is moving to New Mexico. Jessy’s Gems came from New Mexico 16 years ago. This business is 30 years old. In Vinton, the Gallery started in a rental space on 1st street and then purchased the building on 4th St. The gallery went through changes as the retail world changed around us. We continued to sell the paint and the Wild Wings/Terry Redlin gifts that existed before we bought the building.

That's the tune that if you're like me will run through your head as you shop at the new Hy-Vee Dollar Fresh. Seeing something funny, as I usually do, there were no smiles that could be seen in the store on Friday. Not because folks weren't happy and thrilled to be there and thrilled to shop, but most were wearing masks.
