Floyd Named CEO of East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative

 The East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative Board of Directors has named Teresa Floyd, the current manager of finance and consumer services for ECI REC, the next chief executive officer of the Cooperative. Effective July 1, she will succeed CEO Steve Marlow, who has led ECI REC since 2013. He recently announced his retirement, effective August 3, 2020.

Shellsburg residents can order fresh produce for pickup

Extension Office is open

As of today July 6th the Benton County Extension Office is open. We will ask that our walk in clients practice social distancing when entering the office. If they have not been feeling well, experienced a fever or have been exposed to COVID-19 to not enter our office but call us 319-472-4739 for assistance.

Business Improvement Grant (BIG) program

Just a reminder that businesses in Vinton can apply for a Business Improvement Grant (BIG). The BIG Program is made possible by funds received through the Hotel Occupancy Tax program within the City of Vinton.The objectives of the program are 1) to support rehabilitation and preservation of commercial property; 2) encourage new business; and 3) retain, revitalize and expand an existing business in Vinton.

The world has changed…

I think it is safe to say that the world has changed drastically in the last few months.  As with any change, some of it might be for the better and some might not be.  In the insurance world, one thing that has changed is the ability to get Long Term Care after the age of 65.  Let’s face it, a lot of us don’t really start thinking about it until we start thinking about retirement.
