FOTSI donate toward pet food for those in need

On March 31, the Vinton Food Pantry Facebook post said that due to lack of donations that Cedar Valley Humane Society was suspending the once a month pet food distribution until further notice. They have since dropped off a couple of totes but not nearly enough especially now. Friends of the Shelter, Inc. (Vinton) knows the importance of what pets mean to people and the comfort they bring in trying times.

Forgivable Loan Opportunity for Child Care Providers

Child care providers (including nonprofits) will be eligible for the SBA’s new partially forgivable loan program – the Paycheck Protection Program. This program should be available beginning today through local banks and credit unions. Funds are limited and available on a first come first serve basis. PLEASE help get the word out to child care providers in your communities.

Iowa Health Care Association encourages businesses to donate Personal Protective Equipment to long-term care providers(April 3, 2020) - The Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) recognizes Iowa trade associations who are encouraging businesses that may have excess personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies - face masks, gloves and gowns - to donate or sell those supplies to Iowa's long-term care providers.

IA Dept of Ag and Land Stewardship Offer Options to Certify Pesticide Applicator

 Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced today that the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship is offering regulatory relief to help first-time pesticide applicators get certified during the 2020 growing season. This comes after the Department and its testing partners canceled several large, in-person testing sessions based on the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines provided by the CDC.
