Fareway Rewards Hourly Frontline Employees with Bonuses Additional Paid Time-Off

Fareway Stores, Inc. today announced its Fareway Family Frontline Plan to provide cash bonuses and additional paid time-off for its hourly employees who have worked on the frontlines during these unprecedented, last several weeks.A one-time cash bonus will be paid to hourly employees under the age of 18. Part-time hourly employees 18 and over will receive an additional 20 hours of paid time-off; full-time hourly employees will receive an additional 40 hours of paid time-off; and assistant managers and warehouse foremen will each receive an additional 47 hours of paid time-off.

While most of us are hunkered down at home with our families, large equipment is still moving ground, for the new Kwik Star business. Large trenches are ready for the fuel tanks and the landscape of the northern side of Theisen's is beginning to take shape. South M Ave. is closed from the 13th St. entrance at this time.The main focus on Thursday was still on moving a lot of the dirt out of the area as trucks lined up for their load of the dark earth.

Gov. Reynolds announces unemployment insurance tax extension to assist small businessesDES MOINES - Today, Governor Reynolds announced that first quarter unemployment tax payments that are due April 30th  will be delayed till the end of the 2nd quarter, July 31, 2020.  Eligible employers include those employers with 50 or fewer employees. Eligible employers also must be in good standing with no delinquencies in quarterly payments.

US SBA Issues Economic Injury Disaster Loan Declaration

Financial Assistance Available to Small Businesses Impacted by COVID-19 Governor Reynolds today announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has issued a disaster declaration for the state of Iowa as of January 31, 2020 and continuing. The declaration allows pandemic-impacted small businesses to apply for low-interest support loans. The declaration comes after Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds submitted a federal funding request via the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program.

Deadline for pesticide applicators to renew their certifications has been waived

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced today that the deadline for pesticide applicators to renew their certifications has been waived by a proclamation signed by Gov. Kim Reynolds on March 22. Iowans who were certified through Dec. 31, 2019, can retain their status and now have until Dec. 31, 2020, to submit the testing or training required to renew a pesticide applicator certification.

John's Qwik Stop: Updated offers free sack lunch & Delivery

Locally owned John's Qwik Stop continues to serve the Vinton community in this difficult time. As John’s Qwik Stop does throughout the year, they are again stepping up to provide brown bag lunches free of charge for the school kids that are in need of lunch while school is out.
