With about 25 people waiting at the door, Kwik Star opened this morning, Thursday, August 13 at 5:05 a.m. The new store location is 1208 W. 13th St. in Vinton.The store will be offering Grand Opening specials which will run for three consecutive weeks:8/17/20 – 8/23/208/24/20 – 8/30/208/31/20 – 9/6/20There will be a ribbon cutting event on Wednesday, August 19th at 11 a. Fareway to continue to postpone accepting containers for redemption
Effective with the expiration of the Iowa Governor’s Emergency Declaration on July 25th, Fareway will not be accepting containers for redemption in its Iowa stores. Health authorities continue to advise that COVID-19 and other viruses are transmitted through respiratory droplets. Accepting potentially contaminated containers inside our stores presents a great risk of harm to the health and safety of our employees and customers.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced today that farmers and landowners can sign-up now for cost share funds through the state’s Water Quality Improvement (WQI) program. The state funding helps off-[st] the cost of conservation practices, including cover crops, no-till/strip-till acres or nitrification inhibitors. These practices are proven to support soil health, reduce erosion and improve water quality.
