Vinton Municipal Communications Utility now deal with iVinton repairs

At the VMCU (Vinton Municipal Communications Utilities aka iVinton) board meeting on Tuesday evening, it was announced there will be some scheduled downtime to repair fiber cuts made during the new road construction. Services will be down from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. on May 24th and again on the 25th. One repair was already made on Monday night. Originally, it was reported that iVinton had been cut twice during street repairs.

Hello District 75 from the State Capitol!

This past week, the House Republicans were and still are still in detailed and extensive negotiations with the Governor and Senate for the budgets this next fiscal year. Thursday, the House passed the FY 2022 Education Appropriations at $970.4 million dollars, which was about $14.5 million less than Governor Reynolds’ proposal. The House proposal includes a $6 million increase for the Community Colleges, but no increase to the three state public universities.

Iowa Crop Progress and Condition Report May 3-9

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig today commented on the Iowa Crop Progress and Condition report released by the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service. The report is released weekly from April through November.“Many farmers across Iowa were grateful for the much-needed rainfall we received over the weekend,” said Secretary Naig. “With cooler and drier conditions for much of last week, farmers made significant planting progress and are ahead of schedule this year.

May 6, 2021 State Revenue Grows Significantly in AprilState tax revenues grew in April according to the non-partisan Legislative Services Agency. How much did they grow? When compared to April 2020, state receipts were up $374.6 million. This amount is a 75 percent increase over what the state took in last April, when tax payments to the state were delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
