Joel Scott Meek

Joel Scott Meek, 43, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief illness. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Scott was born August 15, 1970 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Joel and Janet Hagge Meek. Scott is survived by his mother, Janet of Buckingham; sister, Diana (Dennis) Bramow, Vinton; brother, Larry, Buckingham and several nieces and nephews.

Bonetta M. Christy

Bonetta M. Christy VINTON – Bonetta M. Christy, 83, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Vinton Lutheran Home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Vinton with Pastor Zach Zajicek officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton and also one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Joyce L. Jackson

Joyce L. Jackson passed away April 15, 2014. She was born September 17, 1926 in Wood Center (near Edgewood) Iowa to parents Otto and Floy (Rause) Appleton. She attended Iowa State Teacher’s College and became a Kindergarten teacher in Vinton Iowa. There she met her future husband, Ray F. Jackson. They were married August 7, 1949. She was the loving mother of two children, Jeannine and Jim.

   Marion E. Umbdenstock, 86, of Vinton, Iowa, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Lutheran Home, Vinton. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at the funeral home. Elsie Martha Vaupel Wilson

Elsie Wilson VINTON:  Elsie Martha Vaupel Wilson, 88 passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at MercyMedical Center in Cedar Rapids following surgery.        Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton with Rev. Stephen Preus officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church on Tuesday.

     NEWHALL:  Rose Edna Joyal, 97 of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Newhall died April 15, 2014 at Heritage Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids.       Private Family graveside services will be held at St. Patrick and St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.       Rose Edna Goselin was born August 17, 1916 to DaMase and Eugenie (Bisson) Gosselin at LaBroquerie, Manitoba, Canada.
