Spartans defeat Vikings 58-23SOLON – The Vinton-Shellsburg Viking varsity basketball team (0-4) took on the Solon Spartans (2-2) and the Spartans earned a 58-23 win over the Vikings at Solon High School on Dec. 10.Gunnar Moen led the Vikings with five points, Kaden Kingsbury and Cam Dunbar scored four each, Reese Truax hit one three-pointer, Benett Rickels, Austin Kemp and Kail Evans scored two points each and Max Vasquez hit one free throw.

Mount Vernon Mustangs defeat #11 Vikettes 45-41MOUNT VERNON – The No. 11-ranked Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity basketball team took on the Mount Vernon Mustangs and the Mustangs earned a 45-41 win at Mount Vernon High School on Dec. 14.Alyssa Griffith led the Vikettes with 11 points, Sophia Kreutner scored eight, Brylee Bruce and Kalie Burke scored six each, Abby Davis scored five, Julia Johnson scored three and Ashlie Meyer scored two.

Williamsburg Swim Results

Tuesday night the Stormin’ Vikes travelled to Williamsburg for a showdown with Wa-Ma-C rival Williamsburg along with Oskaloosa and Centerville.  What was anticipated to be a tight battle with a significantly improved Williamsburg squad ended up as a solid victory for Vinton-Shellsburg.  With a number of guys stepping up and swimming new events for the first time to fill out the line-up, the Stomin Vikes saw a number of time drops and big performances.

Silent Cake Auction December 13

Mark your calendars to support the VS Wrestling Cheerleaders at their first annual Silent Cake Auction. Many delicious, decorated cakes created by local Bakers and the VS Wrestling Cheerleaders will be auctioned on December 13th at 4:30 p.m. at the home JV Tournament, in the High School Cafeteria.All proceeds will go to purchasing new uniforms and season expenses.
