  Alliant Energy encourages residents to make a free call 48 hours before digging to know what’s below.   CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Aug. 5, 2011 – With Aug. 11 almost here, Alliant Energy hopes this date on the calendar, 8/11, will serve as a natural reminder for residents to call 811 prior to any digging project to have underground utility lines marked.

Applications for ISU Extension Master Gardener Being Accepted

  Are you an avid gardener, but would like to know more about gardening, plants and horticulture?  Would you like to meet people who share your interest in gardening?  If so, you may be interested in becoming a MASTER GARDENER.  What is a MASTER GARDENER?  Master Gardeners are individuals who have an interest in horticulture, have taken the Master Gardener training offered by the extension service and share their time and expertise with other gardeners.

Halverson and Toale Selected For D.C. Trip

  Logan Halverson and Dustin Toale of Independence recently participated in the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour program in Washington, D.C. sponsored by East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative. They spent six days in Washington, D.C., with 32 peers from the Iowa. Each year in June, an action-filled week provides high school students opportunities to learn first-hand what it is like to be involved in politics, community service and today’s pressing issues in the energy industry.
