She briefly worked at Farmer’s Savings Bank & Trust and Monkeytown, but the big screen pull is real!Abby now manages the theatre regularly and is our staff graphic artist and social media guru. ACT I to present GENEVIEVE’S NUTCRACKER November 18-24
ACT I returns with an all-new production of GENEVIEVE’S NUTCRACKER just in time to ring
in your holidays. The production will be onstage at the Palace Theatre November 18-24.
Sponsored by McClure Financial Services, Laura McClure-Fleck, this year’s production
features Sue and Dave Gates reprising their roles as Grandma and Grandpa Baxter, and
seven-year-old newcomers Ayla Neve (Red Cast) and Brynn Oberhoffer (Green Cast) as
granddaughter Genevieve. Runaway Bride at the Palace tonight
Tonight, on Wednesday, November 13, at 7pm, we’ll be showing “Runaway Bride,” the first film played at the renovated Palace. In October, for Halloween, we screened “The Sixth Sense,” the second movie shown at the theatre. Next month we’ll celebrate with a Christmas selection from our first year and plan to continue that trend until next November. Reminiscing 25 Years at the Palace
By Marcy HorstThe original managers, Lu Karr and Jan McLeod, were assisted by a handful of projectionists – the first three were Austin Karr, Matt Salger, and Kevin Bookmeier, who were also instrumental in the Palace renovation and re-opening.Matt said, “I remember meticulously hanging the fabric on the walls with Austin. I can't remember the exact number, but 3" staple, fold, 6" staple, and repeat ALL the way around the theatre.

The Vinton Shellsburg High School Theatre Department is presenting Puffs, a hilarious play that tells the story of a different group of students during the same 7 years at a certain school of magic we all know. While you may catch glimpses of a certain boy wizard that went to this certain Wizard School and conquered evil, this is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs…. Watch this space every week as we rewind the story of the Palace. I’ll also be sharing updates on special anniversary deals and activities at the movies.I attended the first movie at the Palace, “Runaway Bride,” with my family, on grand opening night, November 14, 1999. The Wildwoods will be in Garrison Sunday, November 10th
The Wildwoods are an enchanting Folk/Americana trio based in Lincoln, Nebraska, comprised of husband and wife team Noah (guitar) and Chole Gose (violin) and Andrew Vaggalis (bass). Their music has been described by Paste Magazine as “focused and charmingly human”. The Wildwoods play some beautiful original music, inspired by nature, love, experiences from the road and growing up in Nebraska.
