Benton County Board of Supervisor Minutes 7-21-15

July 21, 2015 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Frese, Hertle and Wiley present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Moved by Wiley, seconded by Hertle, to approve the minutes of July 14, 2015. All members voting aye thereon. Motion carried. Moved by Hertle, seconded by Wiley, to authorize the auditor to disburse the loan proceeds, in full, to the Benton County Sanitary Landfill Commission upon their request.

Presidential Candidate Governor Jindal Coming to Vinton Monday, August 10th

On August 10th, please join presidential candidate Governor Bobby Jindal at a Town Hall meeting at the Vinton Pizza Ranch. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Governor Bobby Jindal on the most important issues of the day before he takes questions from the audience. Be sure to come early to eat lunch at Pizza Ranch, or stay and eat after you’ve talked with the Governor (lunchtime buffet runs from 11-1:30).

Congressman Rod Blum's staff to host office hours in Vinton August 4th

Congressman Rod Blum's staff will be hosting local office hours in Benton County next month on August 4th.  Staff will be on hand at the Vinton Public Library from 3:30pm till 5pm to hear the concerns of Benton County residents regarding federal legislation and to assist in any problems constituents may be having involving federal agencies.

Pettengill to Hold Public Works Summit

 Today Rep. Dawn Pettengill (R-Mt. Auburn) announced a public works summit in Van Horne on Thursday, August 6.  All city officials and public works employees are invited to participate in the summit.  In attendance will be Iowa Department of Natural Resources Director Chuck Gipp, the Iowa League of Cities, as well as the Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities.

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Moved by Wiley, seconded by Hertle, to approve the minutes of July 7, 2015. All members voting aye thereon. Motion carried. Mike Elwick and John Elwick met with the board regarding the property commonly known as the Benton County Animal Shelter.
