For 12.5 years, Vinton Today has been able to publish the names of those who comment on articles without any problem. Because of recent events, aka readers who commented on articles were now being tracked down and harassed on social media, comments will now look different. Initials will now only be visible on the website. The first letter entered for your first and last name will appear.
Fareway joins Secretary Pate’s efforts to combat human trafficking in Iowa
Fareway Stores, Inc. announced today it has joined a statewide coalition to end human trafficking in Iowa. The Iowa Businesses Against Trafficking (IBAT) initiative is led by Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate. Fareway is a family-owned business based in Boone, Iowa. They are working with Secretary Pate’s office to find ways to prevent human trafficking and raise awareness about this form of modern-day slavery.
Leaf pickup is underway (Place leaves 1 ft. from your curb)
Curbside pickup is for leaves ONLY is now underway. NO sticks, grass, dead plants, plant clippings/debris, etc. To make things cleaner and easier, please place the leaves about one foot out from the curb. Leaf pickup is done in zones. Iowa Economic Development Authority Touring Vinton
Benton Development Group has invited a team from the Iowa Economic Development Authority to tour several Benton County communities. The delegation will survey downtown areas for strengths, challenges, and potential revitalization strategies. While providing an honest first impression of the business district, the group will also share information about programs that could accelerate future development.

It is that time of year, and GoVS is again preparing to help you decorate for the upcoming holiday season with evergreen roping and wreaths.GoVS awards thousands of dollars in scholarships each May to graduating seniors pursuing higher education. The holiday roping and wreath orders are a major funding source for the scholarships.Businesses in the Vinton City limits can choose to have roping hung by volunteers from the FFA and National Honor Society.
