Vinton Fire Department to conduct Operation E.D.I.T.H. Thursday night 7:00 p.m.
The Vinton Fire Department will lead "Operation EDITH" this Thursday at 7:00 p.m., as part of Fire Prevention Week. The program, an acronym for Exit Drill In The Home, is a fire-safety initiative designed to encourage families, especially those with young children, to discuss and practice fire escape plans at home.Why Focus on Children?Statistics highlight the importance of fire safety education for children. Benton County Auditor, Hayley Rippel spoke to the Vinton Kiwanis club sharing all things election-related. She's been with the Auditor's office for 26 years and has served as the Auditor for 8 of those years. Rippel also serves on the board of the Iowa Association of County Auditors as secretary and was just elected for a term as treasurer which will begin in January. Nature Trail. This recreation corridor was initially developed from an abandoned rail line
between Hiawatha and Evansdale decades ago. The commemoration also marked 40 years

By Clark KauffmanThe Iowa dentist who was convicted in April of public intoxication after performing a root canal on a patient is still waiting for the Iowa Dental Board’s final action in the case.Late last year, the Iowa Dental Board charged Paymun Bayati, 59, of Waterloo, with practicing dentistry in a manner that is harmful or detrimental to the public and with violating provisions of Iowa related to the practice of dentistry.
AmeriCorps NCCC team deployed to North Carolina
AmeriCorps members serving at the North Central campus in Vinton, Iowa have been pulled to assist with shelter operations, mobile feeding, warehouse support, and damage assessment in North Carolina. They will be arriving in Charlotte on Saturday, October 5 and checking in at the American Red Cross office to receive their assignments before heading to Asheville. By: Co-Reporter, Izzie Birker On Wednesday, September 25th, the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA chapter, along with many other chapters in the Northeast District, participated in the District Soil Judging Contest at Hawkeye Community College. The Vinton-Shellsburg FFA chapter brought four teams to the event including members Andrew Pingenot, Will McKenna, Megan Schlitter, Izzie Birker, Ben Buhr, Cooper McClintock, Austin Noe, Kirsten Pettit, Brihanna Dulin, Raine Wheeler, Kassidi Brunssen, Cole Birker, Jameson Demuth, and Steven Rogers. Nesbitt honored as 2024 Iowa School Mental Health Hero
Natalie Nesbitt, has been a school counselor for 13 years in the Benton Community School District. She counsels both middle and high school aged children in the district. Currently, Nesbitt cares for around 750 students. With a passion for well-being, she has led efforts in the Benton Community School District to improve access and reduce stigmas around mental health.
