Evelyn Hanneman, 96, passed away on July 9, 2023, at Terrace Glen Village in Marion. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vinton. The visitation will be for an hour prior to the service at the church.Evelyn is survived by four children and their spouses, David (Carol) Hanneman of Marion, Dr.
Edith Louise Williams
Edith Louise Williams, 90 of La Porte City, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at La Porte City Specialty Care. Edith was born to Otis and Nellie Engledow-Coy in Shellsburg, Iowa on June 2, 1933. She was the 11th of 11 children. Edith attended school in Shellsburg. On February 24, 1951, Edith was united in marriage to Harley Williams at the Vinton Methodist Church.

Nancy Ellen Boies, age 90, died Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Van Horne, with Rev. Craig Steimel as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Keystone. A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.
Gary Lee “Coffee” Olson
Gary Lee “Coffee” Olson, 73, of Houghton,Iowa, passed away at 5:57 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at the V.A. Medical Center in Iowa City.Gary was born on November 2, 1949 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Mary (Chesnut) Olson. On September 29, 1979 he married Lucille Hellweg in Houghton, Iowa.He is survived by his wife: Lucille, two children: Andy (Maria) Olson of Atkins, Iowa, and Lynn Olson of Newhall, Iowa, four grandchildren: Caleb, Ava, Bella, and Landon, one sister: Linda (Mike) Panther of Fort Madison, Iowa, one brother: Tom Olson of Texas, also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Gerald "Jerry" John Holbach
Gerald "Jerry" John Holbach, 87, of La Porte City, died Friday, June 30, at his home.He was born August 8, 1935, in Black Hawk County, the son of Ralph and Philomena Schmitz Holbach. He married Virginia Fagerlind on November 17, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilbertville. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2020.Jerry graduated from Iowa State Teachers College and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Cathy Ann Kelchen
Cathy Ann Kelchen, 59, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, July 2, 2023, following a lifelong battle with diabetes, organ transplant and most recent heart surgery. Cathy worked in the financial field for BMO. A 1982 graduate of Regis High School, she mostly enjoyed “The Boys,” their dogs she raised with Dave Carlin, the love of her life.
Myron “Mike” Demmel
With his wife by his side, Myron “Mike” Demmel passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023, in his home, after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. Visitation will be 3:00–7:00 p.m., Friday, July 7 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Graveside service with military rites will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8 at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Eugene (Gene) Michael Close
Eugene (Gene) Michael Close, 75, of Wylie , TX, passed away on July 2, 2023 after a short battle with cancer.Gene was born on October 28, 1947 to Martin Minniffee Close and Lucy Georgiana Close (Sellers) in Brandon, IA. After getting his high school diploma from Washington High in Vinton Iowa, Gene went on to serve in the United States Army where he fought in the Vietnam War.
Bernice Irma Foulk
Bernice Irma Foulk, 93, of La Porte City, IA, passed peacefully at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Saturday, July 1, 2023. She was born February 8, 1930, at the farm of her paternal grandparents Wilhem and Christina (Eippert) Wagner in Tuttle, ND. She was the eldest daughter of George and Martha (Schwindt) Wagner. Her family moved to Waterloo, IA, when she was seven years old.
