Janet Elaine Prusha, 83, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away October 6, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA.Janet was born June 1, 1940 on the family farm south of Belle Plaine to Leo and Violet (Stanek) Formanek. Growing up on the farm she went to country school and graduated from Belle Plaine High School, and played Saxophone for the band.

George Lewis Thacker Jr., age 70, passed away peacefully on Sunay, October 8, 2023, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, with his loving family by his side.Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 13, 2023, at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton.  A reception will be held at the Geo G. Luckey American Post following the service.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Virginia Gay Respiratory Department.

Jack Read, 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, surrounded by his family at home. Private family services were held. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.Jack was born on May 5, 1931, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Harry and Irene Read. He graduated from Central Collegiate High School and went on to attend Monmouth College (Illinois) and finished school at the University of Iowa Dental School.

Sarah Magdalene Wilharm, age 30, beloved daughter of Jeff and Vicki (Alberts) Wilharm, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Unity Point St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.Sarah wrote this with her life. Ella Elizabeth Wubbena, 85, passed away at her residence, Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton, with Chaplain Brian Reeves officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held.

Charles “Charlie” J. Vesely, 86, of Keystone, IA passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Keystone Care Center.A Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2023 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Vining, IA.Visitation is 4-6 p.m., Sunday, October 8th at the funeral home.

DeVonna M. Pratt, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2023. Graveside services are set for Thursday, Oct.5, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from noon until 12:45 p.m.Survivors include her children, Juanita Lara of Blessings, Texas, Sandra J. (Ed) Callan of Shellsburg, Iowa, and Matthew Pratt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her siblings, Boyd (JoAnn) White of San Antonio, Texas, and Carma Harris of Waukon, Iowa; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kenneth S. Stahnke, 86, of La Porte City, died at La Porte City Specialty Care on Monday, October 2, 2023 of natural causes.Kenneth was born in Benton County on the family farm and arrived on Mother's Day, May 12, 1937. He was the only son of Harold and Addie (Ballheim) Stahnke.He attended country school south of the farm. Kenneth graduated from La Porte City High School with the class of 1955.
