Bonnitta (Bonnie) J. Johnston, 79, passed away on February 16, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 Saturday, June 3rd, at Phillips Funeral Home (212 E 6th St –Vinton) followed by an internment service at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. Bonnie was born December 16, 1943, in Vinton, where she lived during her childhood.
Richard Charles “Dick” Hare
Richard Charles “Dick” Hare, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Hiawatha Care Center.A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday, also at the funeral home, with Deacon Bill Hare officiating.
Harlan Dean Cronbaugh
Harlan Dean Cronbaugh, 83, of Cedar Rapids, IA (formerly of Belle Plaine, IA) passed away May 25, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.Harlan was born June 27, 1939 to Harley and Edith (Slaymaker) Cronbaugh in Belle Plaine. Growing up on the family farm, he attended country school until 8th grade and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Following school, he worked at Amana Refrigeration before his career as a Petroleum Department Manager at Farmer’s 4-County Co-op.
Sandra L. Briden
Sandra L. Briden, 73, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away at home on May 26, 2023. She was born August 15, 1949, in Waterloo, to Marion and Dorathy Hamm Briden. Sandi graduated from West High School in 1967 and earned a B.S. degree from U.N.I. in 1978.She was employed by various insurance companies as a multi-line insurance agent for over 25 years. After taking a year off, she took over management of the Waterloo Community Playhouse Rental Shop, retiring in 2017.

Garry Raymond Anderson, 78, of Van Horne, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa.A gravesite service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Resthaven.Garry was born on April 14, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa. Linda Ann (Fee) Bagenstos
Linda Ann (Fee) Bagenstos of La Porte City was born August 6, 1943, to Cora Mary and G.D. Fee and passed away on May 25, 2023. After graduating from Waterloo West in 1961, Linda married Jim Bagenstos on September 15, 1963. They lived in Erlangen, Germany, for a year while Jim was stationed there with the U.S. Army. While staying home with their daughters, Linda kept the books for the LPC Preschool and the Heritage Park Condo Association.

Jim Merchant, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab, with his family by his side.Visitation will be Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the First Christian Church in Vinton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 26, 2023, also at the Church, with Rev. Richard Jumper officiating.
Brian Keith Anderson
Brian Keith Anderson, age 59, gained his wings and went to heaven on Monday, May 15th 2023 at his home in Garrison.This was a huge shock to family and friends! Brian was born on January 31, 1964. He was then adopted by Harley and Mary Anderson of Anamosa. He grew up working on the family farm in Anamosa. After the passing of his mother and later his father, Brian left home at age 16 to go out on his own.
William “Bill” Albert Vileta
William “Bill” Albert Vileta, 80, passed away on May 19, 2023, following an accident. He leaves behind a legacy of being one of the greatest family men that has ever existed. Bill was a shining light in a world that can sometimes be filled with darkness. That world is a little dimmer now.The sunshine of Bill’s life was his wife Linda who he was devoted to for an amazing 63 years.
R. Gordon Wagner
R. Gordon Wagner, 84, of Watkins, IA entered his heavenly home on May 20, 2023. Gordon passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family after complications from heart failure. Gordon was born July 1, 1938 to Ralph and Grayce (Gorvin) Wagner south of Oxford, IA. Gordon was one of nine siblings growing up on the farm and attended country school until attending and graduating from Oxford High School in 1956.
