Lois Ann Wunschel, 92, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2023.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. Pastor Ryan Roehrig will officiate, and the casket bearers will be Dave Wunschel, Steve Wunschel, Blair Elliott, Austin Crouse, Brenden Elliott and Jacob Wunschel Burial will be at Carroll City Cemetery following the funeral services.
Rita Blake
Rita Kay Blake was born on December 30, 1949, in Vinton, Iowa, to her parents DuWayne and Lillian (Meyer) Schirm. She grew up on her family's farm in Garrison, Iowa, where she attended school, graduating in 1968 from Garrison High School. She had the esteemed privilege to serve as her class Valedictorian and during her high school years, she excelled at many things; basketball, percussion, baton twirling, softball, dance, 4H, piano, cheerleading and bowling.
Maurice K. Van Note
Maurice K. Van Note, 87, of Palo, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at Keystone Care Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, with Pastor Bill Reirden officiating. Private burial for family and close friends will follow at the Palo Cemetery. The family will greet friends ahead of the service, starting at 9:30 a.
Gladys L. (Scheetz) Werner
Gladys L. (Scheetz) Werner, 96, of Van Horne, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton.A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Salem United Methodist Church in Van Horne. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. also at the church, with the Rev. Kolleen Queener officiating.
Wayne Orville Riley
Wayne Orville Riley passed away at the Colonial Manor in Amana on February 9, 2023. He was married for 69 years to Loralyn Wilson from South Dakota.Wayne was born May 24, 1929, to his parents, Wallace and Pauline Riley. His family also welcomed his younger sister, Glenice. Wayne graduated from Norway High School in 1947. He served in the Air Force; he was trained to be a NORAD radar operator.
Marjorie “Marjie” Elizabeth Dods
Surrounded by her loving family, Marjorie “Marjie” Elizabeth Dods, 65, died at her residence Thursday, February 9, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Patricia ‘Pat’ Lynne Hawkins Deklotz, 73, of Atkins, Iowa, departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. She was surrounded by love and family. Paula Joyce Pecenka
Paula Joyce Pecenka, 96, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away February 3, 2023 at her home.She was born August 7, 1926 to Lester “Babe” and Gladys (Freeman) Anderson. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1944. Following school, Paula worked at a Belle Plaine grocery store.On November 30, 1947 Paula married Franklin Martin Pecenka. Together they farmed and raised livestock north of Belle Plaine for 56 years, until retirement.
Lynn Keith “Skip” Ackman
Lynn Keith “Skip” Ackman was born on January 22, 1958 in Manchester Iowa, the son of Harry “Carl” and Bettie (Wessel) Ackman. He passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in St. Luke’s Hospice Care in Cedar Rapids, IA. on his 65th Birthday, January 22, 2023 after having a celebration of birth and life just the day before. He currently resided in Parkersburg, IA.

Helen Yundt, 86, of Vinton, died peacefully Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Bickford of Marion. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Vinton, with Pastor Brian Channel officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Private burial will be held at a later date.
