(Boyles) Bierschenk age 71, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at her home in Marion.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 14, 2023, at the Phillips Funeral Home (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton. Connie Sue Pennell, 84, of LaPorte City, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Waterloo, following a brave a valiant fight with cancer.Connie was born on November 21, 1938, the daughter of William & Mary Katherine (Gross) Bechthold. The family lived in Waterloo and moved to LaPorte City around 1950.

(Schminke) Hagen, age 87, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 14, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, with Rev. Russell L. Tollefson Sr., 71, passed away August 7, 2023 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care, Belle Plaine, IA.Russell was born April 28, 1952 to Ernest and Nina (Thorson) Tollefson. He attended Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Following school, Russ enlisted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam War. Upon his return he moved to Cedar Rapids and worked odd jobs before his career as a truckdriver and later worked for Foster Heating and Cooling.

Richard Paul Novotny, 84, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Aug. 6, 2023, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, Iowa.Dick was born Oct. 1, 1938, to Otto and Lottie (Bartacheck) Novotny.As a young adult, Dick joined the U.S. Army, where he was awarded for his many outstanding accomplishments.
