Gerald "Jerry" John Holbach, 87, of La Porte City, died Friday, June 30, at his home.He was born August 8, 1935, in Black Hawk County, the son of Ralph and Philomena Schmitz Holbach. He married Virginia Fagerlind on November 17, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilbertville. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2020.Jerry graduated from Iowa State Teachers College and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Russell D. Ridenour

Cathy Ann Kelchen, 59, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, July 2, 2023, following a lifelong battle with diabetes, organ transplant and most recent heart surgery. Eugene (Gene) Michael Close, 75, of Wylie , TX, passed away on July 2, 2023 after a short battle with cancer.Gene was born on October 28, 1947 to Martin Minniffee Close and Lucy Georgiana Close (Sellers) in Brandon, IA. Bernice Irma Foulk, 93, of La Porte City, IA, passed peacefully at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Saturday, July 1, 2023. She was born February 8, 1930, at the farm of her paternal grandparents Wilhem and Christina (Eippert) Wagner in Tuttle, ND. She was the eldest daughter of George and Martha (Schwindt) Wagner. Mardell Johnson, 86, died at home on Saturday, July 1, 2023, surrounded by her husband and children.A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, where the family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
