Daniel “Dan” J. Martin
Daniel “Dan” J. Martin, 89, died Monday, December 19, 2022 at the Iowa Veteran’s Home, Marshalltown from complications of Alzheimer’s. Private family services will be held at a later date. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton is caring for Dan’s family.Dan is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley of Marshalltown; son, Tony (Gillen) Martin of Redmond, WA; daughter, Teresa (Keith) Lindsey of Vinton; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Karen) Nichol of Independence, Mike (Holly) Nichol of Newhall, Sarah (Jon) Skipworth of Renton, WA and Drew (Olivia) Martin of Port Orchard, WA; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Beryl Lynford “Butch” Scott
Beryl Lynford “Butch” Scott, age 76, passed away on, Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. Private family graveside services with military rites will be held in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. “Butch” was born on May 5, 1946, in Vinton, the son of Beryl Lynford and Dorothy (Dulin) Scott. He graduated from Washington High School in Vinton, and earned an Associate’s degree from Kirkwood Community College.
Joyce Harriett Paulsen
Joyce Harriett Paulsen was born November 29, 1930, in South Dakota, the daughter of Bill and Ida (Paulson) Krause. She went to college in LeMars, Iowa, where she received her teaching degree. Joyce furthered her education at the University of Northern Iowa. She then taught kindergarten for 35 years. Joyce was united in marriage to Kenneth Paulsen at the EUB Church in Worthington, Minnesota; he preceded her in death on December 14, 2010.
LaVonne M. Weber
LaVonne M. Weber, 98 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Lexington Estates in Independence.She was born on June 21, 1924, in Brandon, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Hazel Stevenson. She graduated from high school in 1941 from Jesup High School and graduated from Pitze’s Beauty School in Waterloo, Iowa. On September 22, 1943, she married Russell Ohrt in Jesup, Iowa.
Michael L. Haars
Michael L. Haars, 72, of Cedar Falls, fomerly of Center Point, passed away at Allen Hospital in Waterloo on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, after long term kidney failure. He was born on May 22, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Herman (Dick) and Ilene Haars. He lived in Center Point, Iowa until joining the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Kirkwood Community College with an associate's degree in accounting.
Marvina Lea Jensen
Marvina Lea Jensen was born on May 4, 1946, in Waterloo, the daughter of Marvin and Marian (Van Erem) Collins. She attended Waterloo East High School. On February 21, 2004, Marvina was united in marriage to Andy Jensen. The couple made their home in Dysart. Marvina worked at Cedar Falls schools for 14 years and Wal-Mart for 16 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dysart and enjoyed sewing, bowling, riding horses, and spending time with her family.
Ella Mae Lightfoot
Ella Mae Lightfoot, age 93, of Mena, Arkansas passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on March 30, 1929 to Amiel Patrick and Lois Victoria Boyce in Jefferson City, Missouri.Ella Mae loved the Lord and her faith was very important to her. She was a very active member of the Cornerstone Pentecostal Church and adored listening to Gospel music.
Anna “Annie” Mae Seebach
Anna “Annie” Mae Seebach age 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo. A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 17 at 2:30 P.M. at Urbana Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Brian Channel officiating. Anna was born on January 3, 1953, to Pearl and Mary (Zahn) Evens. She was a graduate of Urbana High School.
Kathleen “Kate” Marie (Lauterwasser) Thompson
Kathleen “Kate” Marie (Lauterwasser) Thompson, 93, of Newhall, Iowa, went to meet her Savior Jesus Christ on December 12, 2022. She was born on November 27, 1929, to Ervin and Irene (Senne) Lauterwasser on the farm near Van Horne, Iowa. She graduated from Newhall High School in 1947. For a time, she worked at National Oats in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Tommy Lane
Tommy Lane, 83, of Vinton, died Monday, December 12, 2022 at Ennoble Nursing and Rehabilitation in Dubuque following a sudden illness. A memorial visitation will be held 4:00–7:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2022 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton.Tommy is survived by his parrot, CoCo; special friend Darlene, children: Terry (Lisa) Lane of Benton, WI and Tammy (Mark) McFarland of Sugarland, TX; six grandchildren: Terry James (TJ) (Erica) Lane, Christine Chapman, Lesie (Steven) Eden, Corey (Abby) McFarland, Jeremy McFarland and Tyler McFarland; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild as well as one on the way.
