Russell James Roepke

Russell James Roepke, 65, of La Porte City, Iowa, died at his home on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, after a short Illness.Russ was born October 1, 1957, in Hazleton, Iowa, the son of Jim and Shirlee Bantz Roepke. He served in the United States Navy from 1975 to 1978, receiving an honorable discharge.He married Janet Cornelison on March 3, 2003, in Waterloo, Iowa.

Helen R. McElroy

Helen R. McElroy, 91, of Urbana, died Sunday, May 7, 2023, in Westlake, Ohio.She was born August 18, 1931 in Raymond, the daughter of Richard "Dick" and Mabel Brown Stocks.Helen graduated from Waterloo East High with the class of 1949.She married Harold McElroy on March 3, 1956 in Waterloo; he preceded her in death on September 4, 2009.She had worked at Wonder Bread as a bread slicer until 1987.

Jerry S. Appleton

Jerry S. Appleton, 73, of Fairfax, Iowa, died Monday, May 8, 2023, at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family will greet guests from 9 to 11 a.m. June 2, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service with military honors will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A reception in Jerry’s honor will follow at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood.

Mark Seaton

Mark Seaton, 92, of Vinton, passed away peacefully, with Iowa by his side, on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Virginia Gay Hospital.  Per Mark’s wishes, there will be no services.Mark was born September 6, 1930 in Marengo, the son of Joseph and Ardis (Simmons) Hadley.  He graduated from high school in the Cedar Rapids school district.  Mark was united in marriage to Marie Dalecky at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Robert “Bob” Donald Wild

Robert “Bob” Donald Wild, 74, passed away peacefully at his home on May 4, 2023, from pancreatic cancer.  Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00am on Friday, May 12th at St. John Lutheran Church (306 2nd St. E, Newhall, IA 52315), with the funeral service and lunch immediately following. Bob is survived by his wife, Jean; four children, April (Cory) Stull, Brian Wild, Marcy (Jesse) Cooksley and Sarah (Brad) Randall; seven grandchildren, Courtney Stull, Caleb Stull, Bronson Wild, Andria Stull, Zane Wild, Bentley Wild and Sennah Cooksley, as well as Karley Urell, his honorary granddaughter; a great-granddaughter, Raelynn (Stull) Weitnauer; two brothers, Rick (Dorothy) Wild and Larry (Margot) Wild, one sister, Linda M.

Lee Ellis Wiley, 82, passed away peacefully at Jackson Ridge Healthcare in Maquoketa on Saturday, May 6, 2023.Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Oak Grove Church, rural Shellsburg. Memorial services will be held at the church at 11:00 AM, Saturday, with Pastor Matt Magee officiating. Interment will be held at the Walker Cemetery.

Dale John Leary, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 7, 2023 at his home. At this time there will be no services. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation is serving the family.Dale is survived by son, Derek (Lisa) Leary of Frisco, TX; daughter, Ellen (Rick) Popenhagen of Atkins; and granddaughter, Julianne LaCour of The Colony, TX.He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn; his parents; and sister, Ann Jensen.

Janette Beck Strieder, 70, of Ponder, Texas, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023.Janette was born September 29, 1952, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, to Dale and Ruth Beck. She moved to Texas in 1981, where she met and married Joe Strieder, September 1, 1984. She loved gardening and was very proud of her many, beautiful flower gardens.Janette is survived by her husband of 38 years; sons, Nick (Roni) Meek, Chad (Tonya) Meek and Bret (Shawna) Meek; siblings, Shirley Share, Linda (Neil) Potter, William (Sharon) Beck, Nathan (Terria) Beck, twin sister, Janice (Steve) Howard, Colleen (John) Bazyn, Denise Beck and Dale (Denise) Beck Jr.

Berard, 88, of Des Moines, Iowa, formerly of Lake Vermilion, Minn., and Iowa City, passed away on April 27, 2023, in Des Moines.Mary was born May 13, 1934, in Panora, Iowa, to Gerald “Bud” and Flora “Alice” (Cahow) Paullin. She married David H. Berard and they owned/operated the Pronto Convenience Store in Coralville, and later moved to Lake Vermilion, Minn.
