Join us as six-year-old Genevieve (Brynlee Kriner) learns the story of The Nutcracker Prince through Grandmother's (Sue Gates) narration as this beloved holiday classic comes to life at the Palace Theatre. ACT1 of Benton County will be holding tryouts for our Annual Children’s Theater Christmas Productions.Spots are available for all children between the grades of 1st-6th. Tryouts are to help with assigning roles.Join us on Sunday, October 16th from 2-5:00 p.m. or on Monday, October 17th from 5-7:00 p.m. Tryouts will be held at the ACT1 Centre, 905 E Ave, Vinton, Iowa.

Just a little over a year ago, local resident David Gates performed in a play at the Palace Theater called "Meet Me in St, Louis." He played the part of Grandpa Prophater at that time. He will reprise the role in a performance at the Theater Cedar Rapids.  "Again, I have been "type-cast," said Gates, "They needed someone 'older' to be Grandpa and I certainly meet that definition.

Red Cedar Chamber Music will be back in Center Point for a free concert at the Andersen Center Point Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m.Violinist Miera Kim and cellist Carey Bostian will play new pieces inspired by folk music from around the world. The concert is called “Fresh Folk.” One composition, “A Culture of Courage,” honors the Ukrainians.
