The 90th General Assembly Starts

On Monday, January 9th, the 90th General Assembly began. It was great to be back in Des Moines serving my new district, Senate District 42, and the people of Iowa. Our week was packed with introductions, committee meetings, and opening remarks from legislative leaders, our Governor, Chief Justice, and Adjutant General of the Iowa National Guard.

Notice that most of Benton County (except for Bruce, Cedar, and Monroe Townships) is in the new District 84.Monday, we gaveled in just after 10 a.m., took our oaths of office, then selected our seats on the House floor.

Compensation Board proposes 8.3% wage increase

Following the changing state of Iowa UTV law, the City of Vinton has updated its City Code concerning UTV travel within the city limits. Shellsburg City Council Minutes 1/3/23

01-03-2023 a regular meeting of the Shellsburg City Council was called to order by Mayor Speckner at 6:00pm in the Council Chambers. Roll Call was answered by Vogt, Reeves, Thorkildson, and Travis. Harvey was absent. Mayor Speckner opened a public hearing on the proposed vacation & partial conveyance of unused right-of-way. There were not any questions.
