Painting Jane to be shown July 9 at the Vinton Palace

"Painting Jane." a movie by Katie O’Regan, is a movie filmed in parts of Portland, Los Angeles and in Iowa. The movie captures the story of a daughter who loses her parents to dementia and finds herself along the way. It is the story of one woman’s transformation into wholeness, acceptance and love. The film's creator O'Regan will be at the screening of the movie and will do a talkback after the movie.

Movie Synopsis:Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill rallies his team to defend the universe and one of their own - a mission that could mean the end of the Guardians if not successful.As a baby raccoon, Rocket is a test subject for the High Evolutionary in order to create a Counter-Earth populated by anthropomorphic animals. He becomes friends with Lylla, Teefs, and Floor, three of the High Evolutionary's other test subjects.

The Anderegg Family will be in Garrison for a Sunday afternoon of bluegrass, gospel and old time classic country music on June 11th. The Andereggs make their home in northeast Iowa by the small town of Ryan. The band consists of Evan on guitar, Graham on banjo, Nathan of mandolin and bass, Jillian on fiddle, with parents Kipp on resonotic guitar and Susan on bass.

Documentary about the Horridge House to Premiere in Vinton

The documentary was filmed and produced by Cory Lollman.

Field of Dreams comes to the Palace Wednesday, 7:00 p.m.

The Vinton Palace Theatre will be showing the 1989 film, Field of Dreams on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.In the movie "Field of Dreams," Kevin Costner plays a struggling Iowa farmer named Ray Kinsella who hears a voice whisper the phrase "If you build it, he will come." Intrigued by the mysterious message, Ray decides to plow under his cornfield and construct a baseball field in its place, despite ridicule from his family and friends.

May 7th - “Planes, Trains and Automobiles”...And a Piano, Too, at CP Museum

The Center Point Historical Society theme this year is “Time Travel: Planes, Trains and Automobiles.” But the season opens on Sunday, May 7, with a birthday party for a piano. Warfield, the player piano, is 100 years old this year.There will be cake and, of course, piano music, provided by Vicki Harger, longtime First Christian Church organist, and by Warfield himself pumped up by his friends, old and young.
